With a fishing rod in hand since he could walk, Matt has spent a lifetime honing his skills on waters both near and far, including the scenic coastlines of Hermanus with Shoreline Fishing.

His fishing adventures have taken him across the globe—from inshore and offshore expeditions to rock and surf, and freshwater fishing.

Most of what he knows has been learned through hands-on experience, trial and error, and a deep passion for the sport. Now, as a dedicated Fishing Guide, he shares that knowledge with others, offering expert guidance and tailored fishing experiences.

Whether it’s introducing beginners to the fundamentals or leading experienced anglers to hidden fishing spots, Matt ensures every outing is both educational and unforgettable.

As a novice fisherman who was battling with the transformation from normal gut line fishing to now using braided lines. After spending time with Matt I will be able to set up my rigs by myself now. Matt was patient and taught me the correct knots to do this.

The following day we set off fishing. First to collect live bait, worms & prawns. He is a wizard at doing this, very knowledgeable. Took me to an area he knows, he read the sea and in we cast. I caught 3 Kob, 1 Galjoen, 1 White Steenbras and 1 Blacktail. All were released safely.

I can’t recommend Matt more highly for his knowledge, ability friendliness and patience.
