Having not been down for a throw in a couple of days, I decided to chance a quick session on the beach, even though the conditions weren’t great.
I arrived a few hours before high tide, greeted by overcast skies and low cloud cover. The morning was warm, but the temperature dropped in the afternoon. The water temperature was about 14°C, with a 2.5-meter swell and a 15-second period, creating challenging langbeen water conditions. Fortunately, as it was close to neaps, the tidal range wasn’t very large, resulting in minimal water movement and side currents, which allowed us to keep our bait out. Although there was minimal wind from the SSW at 8 knots, the waves were somewhat confused due to the langbeen water.
Overall, conditions were tough, and bites were few and far between. Up and down the beach, it was considered a good day if you managed to get a bite.
